Asbestos Garage Roof? Will it kill me?

Asbestos Garage Roof?
Is it going to kill my children?

This ridiculous statement is from a telephone call recently.  A worried mother told me she had only just realised her Garage Roofing Sheets were so called “Asbestos Sheets!”

Unfortunately it is a sign of our times that she belived much of the hype and hysteria in our media concerning the “A” word.

She was under the impreassion that her children only had to see an Asbestos Garage Roof and they would contract a very deadly disease the following week?

I reassured her that the greatest danger the garage roofing sheets posed for her children was the risk of falling through if they climbed onto the asbestos garage roof.

In reality, if you treat your asbestos garage roof with respect and common sense it is not a danger to you or anyone else.

Here is a very short video with a few ideas; what to do with your Asbestos Garage Roof

There must be thousands of Sheds and Garages up and down the UK
with roofs of asbestos cement.  Many of these, are now leaking

What is the safe and legal solution?

On our main website http://Mayfield-Roofing.co.uk

we tell the story of how we transformed this roof:

http://mayfield-roofing.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/asbestos-roofing-service.jpg

All in one day, into this:

And that included adding insulation to make it a ‘Warm’ Roof

Stable Block TLC – Final Day

If you have been following the story of the refurbishment of
the Stable Block that needed some TLC,
Here is the final part of our tail:

There has been a few days delay because heavy rain made
the meadow waterlogged and we could not get our vehicles close
to the project.

As usual, this and other projects are described in more detail on
our main blog http://Mayfield-Roofing.co.uk

You may recall, the shed at the end of the stables had the
wooden doors fitted at our last visit, well now, we have also
sheeted in the remaining front section

P2240144

The brickwork to the front of the building has now been repointed
completely so it is stronger and totally weather proof

Stablespointing

The windows have been glazed with 6mm clear Polycarbonate sheet
this makes it both vandle proof and secure

P2240141
P2240134

so there you have it, the final project finished

Stablesfinish

As mentioned before, you can keep upto date with more detail on
our main blog http://Mayfield-Roofing.co.uk

Just a reminder of what it was like when we started

Stables Getting Its TLC – Day 4

Another good day on the Stables Block
but as the project is still on-going it has
not apeared on our main website yet

http://Mayfield-Roofing.co.uk

You may recall what the front of the barn looked like

The timbers were rotted at the ends and therefore
had to all be replaced

Not very photogenic I am afraid and the images
do not tell the whole story of the amount of work
that went into this part of the transformation

However, you must agree that the finished section
was worth all the hard work that went in to it:

Once the project is complete, the whole story
will be told on out main website

Mayfield Roofing

That is where you can peruse other completed projects

Refurbishing Stables – Day 3

Good progress again today and thank goodness
all of the mess and rubbish is now finished with;
at last!

Here are a few more details of The Stables Project

When it is all finished, the complete story
will be told in full, on our main website
http://Mayfield-Roofing.co.uk

This is The Barn Roof; first thing this morning

And this is what it looked like this afternoon

The Next Image shows the front of The Barn
as it looked like this yesterday

Notice how the timbers are all perished where they
reach the ground.  The wood is also rotted where it
it bedded in the brickwork!

I wonder what was holding it up?

And this is what the front of The Barn looks like
this evening

The pointing to the brick wall has now all been raked out;
that is the worst of the mess out of the way now

Tomorrow, we can start the repointing of the brick wall
and finish all the edge details to the roof sheeting

Don’t forget to watch the report of the whole project
on our main website

http://Mayfield-Roofing.co.uk

Refurbishing Roof to Stable Block – Day 2

Day 2 of the Stable Block Refurbishment
and we are making progress

Some of the Ivy branches were thicker than my arms!!!

After the Ivy was removed,
the new sheeting was straight forward

We made other progress on site today
but you will have to check back tomorrow
for the details

Once this project is complete, the full story with all details;
will be posted on our main website http://Mayfield-Roofing.co.uk

Make sure you see all the action there

Here is that link again Mayfield Roofing

Refurbishing Roof to Stable Block

Here is a Stable Block in need of a little TLC

beginning with it’s roof

Mayfield Roofing were called in to administer the TLC

This project is ‘Work in Progress’ at the moment

When finished, the complete story will be told on our

Main Website http://Mayfield-Roofing.co.uk

You may also notice the the rooflights used
by  Mayfield Roofing are “ManSafe”

This means they can be walked on without any
danger of falling through them

When finished, the complete story will be told on our

Main Website http://Mayfield-Roofing.co.uk

SnowGuards Fitted Above a Conservatory

If you are having a Conservatory fitted, it is always a good idea
to fit Snow Guards to your roof first

To fit them later can be very expensive

If you do not fit them at all, your Conservatory may be damaged by snow
or tiles and other debris falling from your roof

On our blog http://RoofsR.us we report on one such project
in the beautifully picturesque English Cotswolds

You can read the whole story here:
